Asus launched Zenfone 6 with Snapdragon 855 processor and a rotating camera

So after the successful launch of Zenfone 5Z last year, Asus launched it’s 2019 flagship called Zenfone 6. As usual it came as the successor of the past flagship variant. Though it is tough competition in market, Asus comes with a new thought.

The taiwanese computer giant is so aware of consumer’s need. So to provide full screen display and to get rid of notch, Asus follows the way of Samsung. As we saw Samsung’s Galaxy A80 last month, they were using unique technology, a rotating camera. Asus just did the same. But which way? Let’s find out. Here is the specifications of the Asus flagship of the year bellow

Asus Zenfone 6 specifications

Display: Asus uses the 6.4 inch full HD+ IPS display. Yes, it’s unexpected not to see an OLED or AMOLED display technology. But they are providing an IPS display with 19.5:9 screen to body ratio of 1080×2340 pixels. With 100 DCI-P3 color gamut the screen has 600 nits brightness. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

SoC: Asus’s Zenfone 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s best flagship processor Snapdragon 855 chipset that is built in 7nm architecture process. This would be more power efficient and powerful as well.

RAM and Storage: The flagship is offered with LPDDR4X type 6GB and 8GB RAM and has 64GB, 128GB and 256GB UFS 2.1 type internal memory respectively. They didn’t remove the memory slot. You can expand it upto 2TB. So store more without any hesitation.

GPU (Graphics Processing Unit): Absolutely Snapdragon 855 has integrated powerful Adreno 640 to power and enhance your experience.

Camera: The main and big highlight is the camera. As we mentioned earlier, Asus has gone with the rotating camera technology. It has 48MP Sony IMX 548 primary sensor with the aperture of f/1.79 paired with a 13MP wide angle sensor. It has a lazer focus and duel LED flash.

Software: Zenfone 6 runs on ZenUI 6 based on Android 9 Pie. Asus promised to update the device to Android ‘R’ through Android ‘Q’. Asus also joined Android Beta programme.

Connectivity: Asus has

  • A notification light

Audio: Asus has a stereo speaker at the top and bottom. Asus never snatches your freedom of music from you. They gave the 3.5 mm headphone jack as well. Thumbs up for that.

Battery: As they did last year, 3,300 mAh battery, didn’t do this year. Asus gave 5,000 mAh massive battery. It also supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 out of the box.

Design and Dimension: Asus Zenfone 6 has Gorilla Glass 6 on the front and 3d curved glass on back. Though it’s not attractive that much. Its dimension is 159.1×75.11×8.1-9.1 and weight is 190 grams.

The pricing

Asus put aggressive price for the phone. The base model, 6GB+64GB costs arround EUR 499 (roughly ₹39,100), the 6GB+128GB costs EUR 559 (roughly ₹43,800) and the top model of 8GB+256GB costs EUR 599 (roughly 47,000)

The phone is available on Asus now and will be started to ship from May 25. And yes, there are two different colors of the phone – Midnight Black and Twilight Silver.
