WhatsApp will stop working on these smartphones from 2020: here’s why

The Facebook owned massive free messenger company, WhatsApp will stop supporting several smartphones from 2020. According to the FAQ section of the company, they will not bare any older version of such OS. Android and iOS, both are on the list. The company said that they will do this applicable from February 1st, 2020.

According to the information, provided on company’s FAQ session, devices running on iOS version 8 or older and Android version running on 2.3.7 or lower, will not be compatible with the messenger’s upcoming year updates. The company also emphasized on the statement where these iOS or Android “can no longer create new accounts, nor re-varify existing accounts after February 1, 2020”.

This might be a bad news for those WhatsApp users who operates a Windows OS based smartphone. To remind you, Microsoft will be ending all supports for their smartphone based OS from December 31st. WhatsApp will withdraw their support for all windows smartphone accordingly.

Bit if you don’t want to loose all your important chats, you can do save them to yourself. Just be sure you follow these steps.

Firstly you need to backup the whole chat from settings and chat settings. Then you will be needed to connect it to your email account.

One more thing you can do, is Chat Export. You can simply export the chats you want. All you have to do is just go to the chat section. Select the person if you want individual one. Click on more amd tap on Export Chat. If you want a group chat export, do the same thing and select on Group Info instead.

However, the company will still have support for devices running on Kai OS 2.5.1+ so that Jio Phone and Jio Phone 2 will still remain worthy running WhatsApp. WhatsApp listed the operating systems that will run the app im future. In that list iPhones running on iOS 9+ and Android based phones running on 4.0.3+ and KaiOS 2.5.1+ are present.
