Xiaomi Mi A3 launched in India: specifications here
August 21, 2019
The top rated No. 1 Android One phone of the year is finally arrives in India. Xiaomi’s pure Android legacy continues with it’s Mi A series in 2019. The awaited Android One experience with very much decent hardwares actually comes with better upgrade than it’s predecessors. Last year when Xiaomi revealed Mi A2, lots of customers apparently were not very satisfied with it. That’s because of the lack of hardware which they wanted to be featured or they needed in A2. It’s reasonable though. There’s no space for emptiness in India, at least in 2019. So Xiaomi says they worked well on Mi A3 series this year. Okay, is it really a big change that customers should consider? Let’s find out. Before that let’s have a quick highlights of specifications first.
Xiaomi Mi A3 specifications:
The first point comes here is the display which is the most interactive hardware of a phone. Xiaomi upgraded but downgraded the display sector here. They have pasted a Super AMOLED panel on Mi A3 this year. Interestingly, they reduced the display quality here. They are going to give you 6inch HD+ resolution here with the display which is surprising.
When it comes to performance, Mi A series always provided quality performance over time. The first Mi A1 featured Snapdragon 625 chipset which was the top running at that time. Mi A2 was the Snapdragon 660 powerhouse. Here Mi A3 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, built in 11nm FinFet process. This is a fair upgrade than previous generation 660 which was made in 14nm process. The Snapdragon 665 is much power efficient and more powerful than Snapdragon 660.
It has 4GB and 6GB of RAM (LPDDR4X) and it comes with UFS 2.1 type 64GB and 128GB of storage. Now the good thing is Xiaomi included the expandable storage option by Hybrid SIM slot.
One of the main reasons why Mi A series are popular is it’s camera. Let’s talk about camera now. Mi A3, this year features a triple camera setup which includes 8MP and 2MP camera sensors, led by the primary 48MP Sony IMX 586 half inch sensor. Xiaomi did include the highest selfie camera 32MP sensor in it too.
They included latest in-display fingerprint scanning technology for the tech lovers along with AI face unlock. There is also the IR blaster present in that Android One phone.
All these features are backed by appreciable 4030mAh battery. Now this is a respectable change from the previous A2 which featured 3010mAh disappointing battery. Worth mentioning, Xiaomi also provided the fast charging support upto 18 watt with it. But in the box, you are getting 10 watt adapter which is connected via USB 3.0.
The phone is P2i splash resistant which is a plus point for it and also it runs on pure Android 9 Pie off course. The Android Q will be rolled out soon.
There are three color options available for this phone which are More Than White, Not Just Blue and Kind Of Grey which is actually their strategic selling name of White, Blue and Black colored phones.
Here all the main specs end. Now it is the time to decide if the phone is worth upgrading or not.
We shall compare the previous phone (Mi A2) with this one about three sections and see what changes they actually made here. The first one will be display and camera. The second will be storage and performance. And the last but not least is the design and overview.
So well, the previous generation Mi A2 was offering 6inch full HD+ LCD display with no notch experience. The 2019 Mi A3 provides excellent quality Super AMOLED display. It includes the latest 7th generation in-screen fingerprint scanner as well. This is the big jump from the old LCD display which almost nowadays every customers want to upgrade. But, the thing is they also reduced the screen resolution to HD+ to avoid price fault. The display is thought not bad at all. It’s quite punchy and color enormous. So, at most of the cases it should not affect customers. Also the Mi A2 was the duel camera smartphone which had 12MP camera in primary sensor. Here with Mi A3 you get triple rear camera with 48MP included which is big deal. 32MP selfie shooter is also upgraded from 20MP basic. That is a real upgrade for sure. In video segment, it has EIS and can shoot upto 4K video at 30 fps.
The storage comes next. The previous generation A2 had eMMC type slow storage which led the apps to open slowly in this faster world. That’s annoying. The storage is now upgraded to the latest UFS 2.0 fast storage which is a great choise. The storage was limited to the buying option as there were no expandable options offered. But with Mi A3, the Hybrid SIM slot is back on action. That is a satisfaction and worth the upgrade.
The big problem with the Xiaomi phones were the design they used to have. The minimalistic, boring, same design, right? That’s not tge scene now. After the Redmi Note 7 Pro’s launch it is completely changed. As Xiaomi offering the glass design which has the multi-layer color coating design. Xiaomi likes calling it Dynamic Holographic Design. So with the new generation Xiaomi Android phones, all the problems with design is gone. Overall, if you are on a Mi A2 now and thinking for an worth upgrade, then yes, the Mi A3 can be the real chance for you now.
